Art with Mrs. Pritchett
Welcome to the Art classroom page! My name is Tammy Pritchett and I've been the art teacher at Sacred Heart for a little over 6 years. I started my teaching career in 1980 at Fowler and Boswell Elementary Schools and then stayed home with my 4 boys (who are now 34, 32, 29, and 25). All 4 of them live in Portland, Oregon now, so we make as many trips out there as possible! I went back to teaching when my youngest was starting 1st grade, this time in the Tri-County schools, I was the Title One teacher for Math and Reading. I was so excited to get back into the Art room after five years! I was at Tri-County Primary and Intermediate Schools for 12 years, with the last year doing K-12 Art.
I am so blessed to be at Sacred Heart Elementary School where sharing my love for God can accompany the art instruction. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have!

- Stay tuned for our Artists of the Week! Each student chosen will receive a certificate and their artwork will be displayed outside the office. Since there are limitations to people coming in the building,
- we thought it would be a great thing to share here!
Our first projects this year are helping to get our minds and creativity warmed up. Since one of the things that Art helps us do is to express our feelings and emotions, we created a personal Mantra that tells a few of our positive character traits. One class is making a foldable self-portrait of their face with a mask on, and without a mask on! The lower grades did things related to their names and the Artist in them. One class read the book, "The Color of Me" and colored hands to match their skin tones and got to decorate some art supplies on their sheet.
Most often, our curriculum covers a wide variety of projects, focusing on the elements and principles of Art, current events, Geography, Literature (we LOVE art related books!) famous artists, past and current, as well as exercise our fine motor skills to cut, draw, weave, paint, and sculpt, learn about color theory, and generally have fun!
