About Mr. Hardenburg
My name is Alan Hardenburg. I am the new 4th grade teacher here at Sacred Heart. This may be my first year as a classroom teacher, but I have many years of experience volunteering with youth as a Catechist and as an assistant baseball coach. For two years at Saint Lawrence Elementary in Lafayette, I worked as an Interventionist, a fancy name for tutor. In this position, I helped teach individual and small groups of students ranging from grade levels K to 5. Saint Lawrence is also where I completed my student teaching in a fifth grade classroom. I have been a substitute teacher at different elementary grade levels including 5 weeks maternity leave for kindergarten.
My family and I live in West Lafayette. Christine and I just celebrated 27 years of marriage last May. Our only son, Nathan, is 14 years old and is a Freshman at Central Catholic. Go Knights!
I was raised in the Methodist tradition, attended RCIA and converted to Catholicism at the Easter Vigil in 2009. I have an entertaining story to share about having our marriage blessed in the Catholic Church, and a profound story to share about the choice of my saint confirmation name, but those will have to wait for some other time.
Whether coaching or teaching, I enjoy working with young people and helping them to develop their potential. I am excited to have this opportunity at Sacred Heart. I look forward to getting to know and serve both you and your children.
